Small Batch
of Friends

From Bert: This community isn't a marketing list. It's the people who show up at the market, who tag us in their morning cup, who reply to our emails like we're actual friends. Because we are.

Coffee lovers, tea drinkers, candle fans, and good-vibe seekers — brought together by the belief that the morning matters, the coffee should be good, and the people around you make it better.

Who We Are

Not a Loyalty Programme.
An Actual Community.

Small Batch of Friends started the way good things usually do — a few people, a table at a farmers market, and coffee that was genuinely worth talking about.

The name isn't a slogan. It's a fact. We are a small batch. We source limited runs of single-origin beans, Christie pours every candle herself, and we know the regulars by name. That's the whole thing. We'd rather do this right with fewer people than do it at scale and lose what makes it worth doing.

Three Things We Never Compromise

If you're going to spend time with us — at a market, in our shop, or at the table with a morning cup — you should know what we actually believe.

Everyone Belongs Here

No coffee prerequisite. No "wrong way to drink it." No judgment for the person who puts oat milk in their single-origin Ethiopian. The SBOF is for anyone who shows up with good intention and a willingness to enjoy something made with care. Beginner, purist, or somewhere in the messy middle — welcome.

The Morning Deserves Effort

Not a lot of effort. Not espresso-machine-with-seventeen-settings effort. But a little bit of deliberateness — a good bag of beans, a clean mug, three minutes to brew something properly. We make that easier with guides, calculators, and actual tasting notes that tell you what something tastes like in plain language.

Small is the Point

We're not trying to be everywhere. We roast in small batches because it's better that way. Christie pours each candle by hand because scale would change the quality. We go to markets and talk to people in person because that's where the good stuff happens. When you buy from Coo Coo's, you're buying from people who know and care what's in the box.

Meet the Batch

The characters behind every cup, candle, and cozy design. We're friendly, we're approachable, and yes — Bert is absolutely real.

Our Roast Process

What You Get as SBOF

No points programme, no tiered redemption charts. Just things that are genuinely useful when you're part of the batch.

Early Access to New Drops

Single-origin releases, seasonal blends, new Christie scents — SBOF members hear first and get first access before anything goes live in the shop. Limited runs sell out fast.

Direct Line to the Team

Questions about a bean's origin, a candle scent that sold out, or which grind to use for cold brew — just ask. You'll get a real answer from a real person, not a knowledge base article.

Events & Market Meetups

Farmers markets, pop-ups, and occasional taste sessions — SBOF members get advance notice. Show up, try things before they're in the shop, and meet the people behind your morning cup.

Brew Guides & Resources

Every guide we make — coffee ratios, tea steep times, candle care, recipe cards — is free and openly shared. The knowledge shouldn't cost extra when you already bought the beans.

Where Bert Shows Up

The best version of what we do happens in person. Coffee tastes better when someone who made it is there to talk about it.

Farmers Markets

Our home base. Table, pour, tasting cups, a few candles lit, Bert doing his thing. Come for the coffee, stay for the conversation. These are the events where the regulars become the real community.

Schedule announced via email first

Pop-Up Shop Days

Occasional one-day shop events — new releases, seasonal bundles, and things that don't make it online. Quantities are always limited. SBOF members get the location and time ahead of everyone else.

Members get first notice

Brew & Taste Sessions

Small, hands-on sessions where we brew side-by-side and talk through what makes each origin or roast different. No formal presentation, no pretension — just coffee, questions, and honest answers.

Occasional — always worth it
The Origin Story

Why "Small Batch of Friends"?

Every roaster talks about small batches. We wanted a name that said something about why small batch matters — and it's the same reason a dinner party is better than a conference. The people in the room. The fact that everyone was invited deliberately.

A small batch of friends is a thing you can trust. You know what's in it. You know the people involved. The quality comes from the care that's only possible at that size.

That's the coffee, that's the candles, and that's the community. We're not growing to the point where we stop knowing your name.

The Name

A play on "small batch" roasting and the simple truth that the people who come back to our market table aren't customers — they're a small batch of actual friends.

The Gecko

Bert started as a sketch on a napkin during a roastery run. He became the face because he captured something real — approachable, cheerful, and weirdly committed to a good cup of coffee.

The Promise

If you're in the community, you're in. No tiers, no premium tier for people with more points. You're a friend of the batch from the moment you want to be.

You're Already One of Us.

Sign up to stay in the loop on new drops, market dates, and the occasional story from the roastery. No spam, no pressure — just the good stuff, when it's ready.
