Step 1: Start With the Country on Your Bag
Don’t worry about all the maps and regions at once. Just match the country on your bag or product page to a guide
in the hub.
Find Your Country
Look at the front of your bag or the product page online:
- Spot the country name — like Brazil, Colombia, or Ethiopia.
- Or find a regional card — like “Central America & Andes” or “Asia-Pacific Islands & Indonesia.”
- Click into that guide from the main origins hub.
Think of each guide like a mini travel brochure for your coffee — short, visual, and made to skim.
Skim the Big Picture
Once you’re on a country or region page, focus on just a few things:
- Flavor words — chocolatey, nutty, fruity, floral, tea-like, etc.
- Vibe — cozy & comforting, bright & citrusy, complex & wild.
- How we use it — everyday sipper, feature coffee, espresso anchor, blend component.
You don’t have to memorize regions or elevations. Just notice what interests you.
Step 2: Taste with 3 Easy Questions
You don’t need fancy language to “taste like a pro.” Use the origin guide as a loose prompt, then answer a few
simple questions while you sip.
1. Is It More “Cozy” or “Sparkly”?
Forget all the tiny flavor notes — start wide:
- Cozy: chocolate, nuts, caramel, baking spice.
- Sparkly: citrus, berries, florals, tea-like.
Most origins lean one way or blend the two. The guide will hint which direction to expect.
2. Does It Match the Guide… or Surprise You?
Skim the “what to expect” section, then ask:
- “Yep, this tastes like what they described.”
- Or: “Huh, I’m getting something different.”
Neither answer is wrong. Coffee is agricultural — every harvest shifts a little.
3. Would You Drink This Every Day?
Last question (and it’s the most important):
- “Is this an everyday coffee for me?”
- Or: “More of a special treat / weekend coffee?”
Origins help explain why you like something — so you can find more of it later.
Choose Your Own Coffee-Geek Level
This hub is built to work whether you’re just here for a tasty cup or you’re happily sliding down the coffee-nerd
rabbit hole. Use the pieces that fit you and ignore the rest.
If You’re “Just a Coffee Person”
Keep it simple:
- Glance at the flavor words and vibe (cozy vs. sparkly).
- Use origins to find more coffees you already enjoy.
- Ignore elevation charts and processing deep dives if they feel like too much.
If You’re Getting Nerdy (In a Good Way)
Use the guides to notice patterns:
- Which countries you keep loving (Brazil vs. Ethiopia vs. Costa Rica, etc.).
- Which processing styles you like — washed, honey, natural.
- How different roast levels show up in your favorite origins.
If You’re Staff or Wholesale Crew
Think of this hub as your public-facing playbook:
- Use origin pages during staff tastings or quick pre-shift huddles.
- Share links with guests who ask great questions at the bar.
- Pair with Bert’s Coffee Brew Guide for brewing tips.
Important reminder: you don’t have to “get” every flavor note to enjoy your coffee. If all this
hub does is help you say “I usually like coffees from there,” that’s a win. We’ll keep updating each page
as new harvests land so you can keep exploring at your own pace.
When in doubt, pick what sounds fun, brew it how you like it, and let Coo Coo’s Coffee handle the rest.
