Childhood cancer awareness ribbon with heart

Coo Coo’s Cares

We’re building a simple way for purchases to help families facing childhood cancer—one cozy cup and comfy tee at a time.

Bert: “Love is a verb.”

Program dates, the partner charity, and eligible items will be posted here before launch. Thanks for cheering us on while we get it right.

Why we’re doing this

Jeff: Cancer took my mom. My grandmother, my best friend, and others I love have faced long illnesses. I wanted to do something in her honor—and childhood cancer feels uniquely wrong. This isn’t just awareness; it’s action.

We’re setting up a clear, simple way to turn everyday purchases into practical care for families—through small grants, care kits, and community support.

Childhood cancer snapshot

  • About 15,000 children are diagnosed in the U.S. each year.
  • Cancer remains a leading cause of death by disease among children.
  • Treatments save lives—but many survivors face long-term side effects and need ongoing support.

Childhood Cancer 101 (quick read)

A plain-language snapshot of common diagnoses—what families face, and why support matters.

Leukemias — most common

Cancers of the blood and bone marrow. Many kids respond well to treatment, but regimens are long and tiring, and side effects can linger. Learn more (NCI)

Brain & CNS tumors

Tumors in the brain or spinal cord can affect movement, learning, and behavior. Care is complex; rehab and long-term follow-up are common. Learn more (NCI)

Lymphomas

Cancers of the lymph system (Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin). Many are highly treatable; families still navigate scans, meds, and time away from normal life. Learn more (NCI)

Neuroblastoma

Often in very young children. Treatments can be intensive; families juggle hospital stays, side effects, and long recoveries. Learn more (NCI)

Sarcomas (bone/soft tissue)

Includes osteosarcoma and Ewing sarcoma. Care may involve surgery and rehab, with practical needs that add up for families. Learn more (NCI)

Treatments save lives—but many survivors face long-term effects. Your support helps with the practical stuff during and after care.
