Why we’re doing this

Jeff: Cancer took my mom. My grandmother, my best friend, and others I love have faced long illnesses. Childhood cancer, especially, feels uniquely wrong.

Coo Coo’s Cares is one way to turn grief into goodness—clear campaigns, real receipts, and practical help. Not a vague promise. Not a complicated program. Just a simple path for everyday purchases to become everyday support for families who are carrying a lot.

The faces behind Coo Coo’s Cares

This isn’t abstract. It’s personal. These are the women and friend who taught me what love, resilience, and “showing up” look like.

My mom, my grandmother, and my best friend are woven into every decision here. They’re why this page exists, and why Coo Coo’s Cares will always be more than a seasonal campaign or a marketing line.

When we say “Small Batch of Friends,” this is the kind of circle we mean—people who held us up when it was heavy, laughed with us in hospital rooms, and stayed for the long, quiet in-between moments.

As we build, this section will quietly hold the real why: photos, names, and tiny stories that keep us grounded in the humans behind the work.

How it will work

  • Eligible products: Items marked with the Coo Coo’s Cares badge—coffee, mugs, apparel, and seasonal pieces.
  • Giveback: A portion of each eligible purchase supports families via a designated 501(c)(3) partner focused on childhood cancer and related support.
  • Before each campaign: We’ll post the dates, beneficiary organization, and which products qualify—right here on this page.
  • After each campaign: We’ll publish totals, dates, and recipients so you can see exactly what your orders helped make possible.
  • Note: Customer purchases are not tax-deductible, even when a portion of proceeds is donated.

Childhood Cancer 101 (quick, human read)

This isn’t medical advice—just plain-language snapshots of common diagnoses, and why families often need more than “thoughts and prayers.”

Leukemias — often the first word families hear

Blood and bone-marrow cancers. Many kids respond well to treatment, but regimens can be long and exhausting. Families juggle clinic days, side effects, and the way “normal life” suddenly disappears.

Brain & CNS tumors

Care can involve surgery, chemo, and radiation, plus rehab and therapies. Families often manage long-term follow-up and the ripple effects on school, work, and everyday routines.

Lymphomas

Cancers of the lymph system. Many are treatable, but families still navigate scans, immune concerns, and the real-life logistics of missed work, school, and constant appointments.

Neuroblastoma

Often affects very young children. Treatment can be intensive and complex, with long hospital stays and recovery. Practical support for caregivers makes a real difference.

Sarcomas (bone & soft tissue)

Treatments may include chemo, surgery, and rehab. Families juggle pain management, mobility changes, and the emotional weight of “learning the new normal.”

Memory & Honor Wall (with permission, always)

Over time, this space may hold photos and first names of children whose families say, “Yes, please remember them here.” It’s meant to be gentle, respectful, and optional—an echo of the love that keeps going.
