☕ Brew Better with Bert
Let’s make your next cup the best one yet — one method at a time.
Whether you’re just starting your coffee journey or fine-tuning your morning ritual, this guide walks you through how to brew Coo Coo’s Coffee like a pro. Every brewing method brings out something different — so we’ve paired each one with tips, recommended roast levels, and some friendly advice from our resident coffee gecko, Bert.
? Pour Over

Best For: Light to medium roasts
Flavor: Clean, bright, and layered
Bert’s Tip: Use water just off boil (195–205°F) and bloom your coffee first — it makes all the difference!
? Drip Machine

Best For: Medium roasts
Flavor: Balanced and smooth
Bert’s Tip: Try grinding just before brewing and using filtered water. Your daily cup deserves it!
? French Press

Best For: Medium-dark to dark roasts
Flavor: Bold, rich, and full-bodied
Bert’s Tip: Brew for 4 minutes and stir halfway through. Don’t skip the plunge — it’s satisfying and delicious.
⚡ Espresso

Best For: Medium-dark or traditional espresso roasts
Flavor: Intense and concentrated
Bert’s Tip: Dial in your grind — it should be fine, like beach sand. And tamp evenly for that café-quality shot.
? Water & Ratios
Golden Ratio: 1 gram of coffee to 15–17 grams of water (or about 2 tbsp coffee per 6 oz water)
Water Temp: 195–205°F
Bert’s Tip: If your water doesn’t taste good on its own, it won’t make great coffee. Use filtered when possible!
? Bert’s Handy Brew Ratios:
- Pour Over: 1:16 (20g coffee to 320g water)
- Drip: 1:17 (50g coffee per liter)
- French Press: 1:15 (30g coffee to 450g water)
- Espresso: 1:2 (18g in → 36g out in 25–30 seconds)
